It’s so great we are doing it TWICE. On Groundhog Day we are pairing up with one of Chicago’s finest improv troupes, 'The Scoundrels' for 2, yes, 2 totally different performances on Saturday February 2nd!
Alongside the NIC, Chicago's 'The Scoundrels' are visiting Nashville for one night only as they perform high energy, fast paced scenes that rarely stop to take a breath. That perfectly complements the signature pop-culture infused, high-energy style of the NIC.
7pm: Best of Both Worlds: Games with NIC & Chicago’s Scoundrels.
The Windy City meets Music City. A cavalcade of classic improv games and hijinks, as the NIC and The Scoundrels combine forces to create a dynamic, energetic, and totally improvised game show. Pop culture, wit, physicality, full of one liners and high-speed action, this is a once in a lifetime chance to see the best of two worlds of comedy on one stage.
9pm: Tales of Two Cities: Chicago Longform and Nashville Originals
Featuring The Scoundrels doing what they do best, a 30 minute entirely improvised long-form Harold. One of the classic improv styles rarely seen in Nashville, this will be a delightful treat for any improv fan. The Nashville Improv Company will be doing what they do best, showcasing styles and performance pieces that only exist right here in Music City.
Both shows are not to be missed and we ever so strongly suggest you get your tickets TODAY. Right now. Seriously. Do it now. The last 4 shows have sold out.
Tickets are $10 a show, or you can get discounted tickets online only to both shows for $17! Click here to purchase your tickets today!
Jeff Murdoch hails from the great state of Michigan where he first started training in improv comedy around the Metro Detroit area before he continued his studies in Chicago. It is in Chicago where Jeffrey really fell in love with comedy performing with his best buds in the theaters around town in sketch and improv. Jeff has also had the privilege of performing for the Second City's touring boat company aboard the NCL Gem. He loves Nashville for too many reasons to count (BBQ)!
Spencer Ham studied theater at the University of Missouri, where he received the (venerable?) Tom Berenger acting scholarship. Upon moving to Chicago, he studied improv at iO, where he currently performs with the Harold team, Sears Tower. During the day, he writes for the game You Don't Know Jack.
Vince Portacci, a native Nashvillian and a proud Auburn Tiger, has been studying and performing improv for the past five years. He has studied at iO, formerly the Improv Olympic, and The Second City's conservatory program. Vince is lucky enough to perform weekly at iO, The Playground and The Annoyance Theater. Vince and Jeff even were hired by Second City to perform sketch and improv on The Norwegian Cruise-line together last year.
Ross grew up in Naperville, Illinois. After college, he studied improv at iO, where he currently performs with the likes of JaJaJa, FourSided, and the Harold team, Dart. You can see him perform comedy all over the city of Chicago. Last summer he made his national television debut as a pleasant murderer on ABC's Final Witness.
